How Companies Can Guard Against Gender Fatigue

How companies can guard against gender fatigue | McKinsey

By Dominic Barton and Lareina Yee

Show you are serious about basics such as mentoring and work–life flexibility—then hold yourself accountable.

Most of the corporate world has set a bold aspiration to achieve equality for women in the workplace. Ninety percent of US companies in our latest research, for example, say they are “very committed” to this goal, and just about all of them are taking action.

It’s also obvious that we’re still in the early stages of the journey: Currently, just 20 percent of C-suite executives in the United States are female. The Project

20 April 2021 - In March 2019, the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers adopted the Recommendation CM/Rec(2019)1 on Preventing and Combating Sexism. It is a comprehensive catalogue of measures both to prevent and to condemn sexism, calling for specific action in specific areas: language and communications; internet and social media; media, advertising and other communication methods; workplace, public sector; justice sector, education institutions, culture and sport; and the private sphere.

The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) has over the years taken the position that sexism reinforced by gender stereotypes is one of the factors that runs counter to achieving gender equality and the full recognition of women’s rights. Despite the progress achieved in recent years, there is not a single country in the world where women are not exposed to the threat or reality of acts of male violence in every single area of their lives.

Global Austerity Alert: Looming Budget Cuts in 2021-25 - Gender

NEW YORK and NAIROBI, Apr 15 2021 (IPS) - Last week Ministers of Finance met virtually at the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank to discuss policies to tackle the pandemic and socio-economic recovery.

But a global study just published by the Initiative for Policy Dialogue at Columbia University, international trade unions and civil society organizations, sounds an alert of an emerging austerity shock: Most governments are imposing budget cuts, precisely at a time when their citizens and economies are in greater need of public support.
