2 March 2017 – Citing a significant rise over the past year in the number of women dying from drug overdoses globally, the independent expert body which monitors Governments’ compliance with the United Nations international drug control treaties is today calling for the implementation of gender-sensitive drug policies and programmes.
The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) said that women and girls comprise one-third of global drug users yet are only one-fifth of those receiving treatment, as significant systemic, structural, social, cultural and personal barriers affect women’s ability to access substance abuse treatment..
Further, they are also more likely to be prescribed narcotics and anti-anxiety medication than men, and are thus more likely to abuse these medications.
1 March 2017 – When parents and caregivers need credible information about vaccines for their children, they often look to the internet first. In recent years, however, a number of websites have been publishing unbalanced and misleading information on vaccine safety. In response, a network of validated vaccine safety websites, called Vaccine Safety Net, has been created to provide accurate and trustworthy information about vaccines.

How can we achieve FAO’s original vision of a world free from hunger and malnutrition?
The report sheds some light on the nature of the challenges that agriculture and food systems are facing now and throughout the 21st century, and provides some insights as to what is at stake and what needs to be done. What emerges is that “business as usual” is no longer an option but calls for major transformations in agricultural systems, in rural economies and in how we manage our natural resources.
The report was undertaken for the quadrennial review of the FAO Strategic Framework and in preparation for the Organization’s Medium-Term Plan 2018-2021.

Редовна и навремена терапија за сите пациентите со ретки болести, изработка на Национална стратегија и изработка на регистар според светските стандарди, како и повеќе пари за терапија барат членовите на Националната алијанса за ретки болести до надлежните државни органи.
Весна Алексовска, претседател на здружението „Живот со предизвици“, рече дека за 2015 и 2016 година буџетот за ретки болести бил 3,5 милиони евра и дека се надева дека годинава ќе стигне до цифра од шест милиони евра.
„Ќе бараме еден денар од продажбата на кутија цигари да оди во програмата за ретки болести, а не како досега 0,5 денари“, рече Алексовска.
Ребека Јанковска Ристески, претседател на Националната Алијанса на ретки болести, рече дека со новиот начин на финансирање на Програмата за ретки болести на Министерството за здравство во 2015 година набавени се 21 различен лек за пациенти со ретки болести, односно за 12 дијагнози. Таа објасни дека со таа терапија во 2015 година биле покриени 150 пациенти, а лани пак бројот на лекови е зголемен на 29 за 18 дијагнози.
