UN security council resolution 2122 calls for women's full inclusion in peace talks & transitional justice

"Women must be involved at every stage of efforts to reassert the rule of law and rebuild societies through transitional justice. Their needs for security and justice must be addressed. Their voices must be heard. Their rights must be protected."

TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE refers to the set of judicial and non-judicial measures that have been implemented by different countries in order to redress the legacies of massive human rights abuses. These measures include criminal prosecutions, truth commissions, reparations programs, and various kinds of institutional reforms....By trying to achieve accountability and redressing victims, transitional justice provides recognition of the rights of victims, promotes civic trust and strengthens the democratic rule of law. http://ictj.org/about/transitional-justice

Women and gender constituency

From 15-18 June 2014, representatives of the Women and Gender Constituency attended the Preparatory Meeting of the Social PreCOP on Climate Change, organized by the Government of Venezuela on Margarita Island, Venezuela. As part of the negotiations of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Social PreCOP on Climate Change aims to channel the fair inclusion of social voices so that the proposals and demands of popular movements and organizations are heard when drafting the new global agreement on climate change to replace the Kyoto Protocol, adoption scheduled for 2015 which will coincide with the agreement on the future of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the birth of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Media Sexualisation of Children - Girls

In 2011, images of 10-year-old Thylane Loubry Blondeau appearing in French Vogue magazine fuelled debate amongst child development experts and government on what restrictions should be made relating to sexualisation of children in the media

Information on the review of how children in England are under increasing pressure to grow up too quickly. The review, led by the Chief Executive of the Mothers’ Union, sets out how we, as well as businesses and their regulators, can help reduce this trend. We ran a call for evidence for parents and carers and a call for evidence for industry and wider stakeholders in February 2011.
