Post-2015 Women’s Coalition’s Response to the Outcome Document
“Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” of the UN Sustainable Development Summit

On the occasion of the adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, we, as the Post-2015 Women’s Coalition, reiterate our concern that the Sustainable Development Goals, Targets and Means of Implementation continue to fall short of a global agenda that addresses systemic imbalances, inequalities, and discrimination, rooted in gender equality principles that deny the basic human rights of women and girls There have been substantial strides towards a more inclusive process, and the Coalition welcomes the commitment of the Co-chairs, member states, Major Groups and other stakeholders since the commencement of the Open Working Group Process, which has created a new tool for realising gender equality and women’s human rights. Despite contentious issues that prolonged debates during the July-August 2015 Intergovernmental negotiations, the consensus document reflects emerging development challenges, tackles short falls of the MDGs, and takes concrete steps by the international community towards an action agenda. This agenda is more inclusively defined and envisioned, although it still falls short of creating a holistic agenda for feminist development as sustainable development. Moving forward, we remind the international community that gender equality and women’s participation and human rights must be at the centre of all implementation efforts for sustainable and gender equitable development and peace.

Social Protection for Older Persons: Key Policy Trends and Statistics
Pensions are essential to ensuring rights, dignity and income security for older persons. The right to income security in old age, as grounded in human rights instruments and international labour standards, includes the right to an adequate pension. However, nearly half of all people over pensionable age do not receive a pension. For many of those who do receive a pension, pension levels are not adequate. As a result, the majority of the world’s older women and men have no income security, have no right to retire and have to continue working as long as they can – often badly paid and in precarious conditions.

Зголемување на парите наменети за капитални инвестиции, но и за зголемување на пензиите и социјалната помош, предвидува Владата со новиот Буџет за 2016 година, кој е проектиран на ниво од 2.875.000.000 евра.
„Нашите проекции се намалување на буџетскиот дефицит од 3,6 отсто оваа година на 3,2 проценти за следната година и второ, зголемување на средствата за капитални инвестиции, односно покачување на пензии и социјална помош за 5 отсто и значително зголемување на капиталните инвестиции со цел да се поттикне развојната компонента на Буџетот“, рече министерот за финансии и вицепремиер Зоран Ставрески, при претставувањето на Буџетот за 2016 година, кој Владата го донела на синоќешната седница.
Според него, макроекономскиот амбиент којшто е проектиран за следната година вклучува пораст на бруто домашниот производ од вкупно 4 проценти и одржување на умерено ниво на инфлација од 2 проценти.
„Македонската економија е жилава, а тоа покажува дека основните политики се добро поставени и дека може да се справи со одредени ризици и може добро да одговориме на тие ризици. Оттаму нема ни една причина да не веруваме дека растот од 4 проценти за следната година е реален, посебно имајќи предвид дека ќе продолжи политиката на поддршка на тој раст преку капителаните инвестиции и од аспект на приходната и расходната страна ќе обезбедиме доволно средства за ангажман на домашните фирми што се во градежништвото, но и 25 други гранки што работат со нив. Градежништвото заедно со индустријата и нето извозот ќе бидат носители на растот во 2016 година“, рече Ставрески.
The sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 24 March 2016 (tentative dates).
Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend the session.

Gender Gaps in Women’s Paid Work
Women’s labour force participation has stagnated over the past 25 years. Gender gaps are wide and persistent: three quarters of men are in the labour force, compared to only half of women. Differences in women’s employment opportunities, gender pay gaps, and less access to social protection results in large lifetime income gaps.
