This Is a Critical Moment

We can treat diversity like the business imperative it is, or we can treat it as an optional initiative. We can build on the progress we’ve made, or we can lose momentum. This year we’ve seen more bright spots than ever before. We know companies are committed. And the organizations that are doubling down on their diversity efforts are making real progress. We hope companies take this year’s report as a roadmap for change—and a call to action.

Inclusion of women and effective peace processes

The lack of women’s meaningful participation in peace processes remains a major challenge in global efforts to resolve violent conflict. By including women’s perspectives in conflict resolution efforts, the diverse needs of affected societies can be better addressed, thereby reducing the likelihood of relapse into conflict. To support conflict resolution efforts, this toolkit makes actionable proposals for OSCE mediation actors, the Chairmanship, participating States, and Executive Structures on how to increase women’s inclusion in official negotiation processes in the OSCE area.

“There are also men who suffer violence from women and are killed by their wives,” said the party’s secretary general, Javier Ortega Smith, at City Hall. And women have also suffered “violence from their lesbian partners.”

Spain’s Vox party is not alone in thinking this way.

Over the course of 2019, over 50 civil society organisations came together to bring the voices of survivors to the forefront of discussions about addressing sexual violence. More than 500 survivors were consulted on what they think makes violence ‘sexual’. Information from consultations was complemented by input from civil society, legal practitioners, academics, and policy makers to create The Hague Principles on Sexual Violence.
