EWL membership extends to organizations in all of the 28 EU member states and the three candidate countries, as well as to 20 European-wide bodies, representing a total of more than 2000 organisations. The EWL 50/50 Campaign иn 2008-2009 gathered the support of more than 300 prominent women and men from all over Europe and all political affiliations: 14 EU commissioners, heads of state, ministers, members of parliaments, leaders of trade unions, writers, a Nobel Prize Winner etc. Beyond this wide support, the 50/50 Campaign was also successful in contributing to important progress towards the 50/50 goal, as women’s representation rose from 30% to 35% after the 2009 European Parliament elections!
