100 mg tablet of diethylcarbamazine will be used in large-scale treatment of individuals at risk of lymphatic filariasis
20 August 2013 | Geneva - The United Nations Prequalification of Medicines Programme - a United Nations Programme managed by WHO - today announced the prequalification of a medicine for the treatment of a neglected tropical disease. Today’s prequalification, the first for a neglected tropical disease, clears the way for diethylcarbamazine (DEC) to be used in large-scale preventive treatment campaigns, aimed at eliminating lymphatic filariasis (also known as elephantiasis).
